On August 26, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), the world's largest container shipping company, launched a new direct route from Xiamen Port to New Zealand and Australia, named "WALLABY." The "WALLABY" route is currently the only direct shipping service from Xiamen Port to New Zealand. MSC plans to deploy nine container ships to service the route, operating on a weekly schedule to provide shippers with more direct, convenient, and wide-ranging transportation services. The inaugural voyage of the "MSC ELENI" is scheduled to depart from Xiamen International Container Terminal on August 27, heading to major ports in Oceania, including Auckland, Bluff, Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, Tauranga in New Zealand, and Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane in Australia. In recent years, MSC has actively expanded its presence at Xiamen Port, continuously deepening local cooperation with Xiamen Port Holding Group to enhance the global shipping network and jointly build Xiamen as a "regional container shipping hub."
