Tongxiang High-Tech Town

I. Overview

With a planned area of approximately 57 square kilometers, Tongxiang High-Tech Town consists of the Tong'an Area (approximately 44.4 square kilometers) and the Xiang'an Area (approximately 12.6 square kilometers). The Tong'an Area focuses on high-tech industries such as new energy, new materials, and high-end equipment manufacturing. It plans to develop specialized, refined, differential and innovative ("SRDI") industrial parks to attract a group of "hidden champion" manufacturing enterprises and SRDI "little giant" companies. The Xiang'an Area concentrates on high-tech sectors, including advanced displays, integrated circuits, and microelectronics.

Positioned with the vision of "industry-driven urban development and integrated industry-city growth," Tongxiang High-Tech Town is committed to the integrated development of industry, city, people, and environment. With a planned residential population of approximately 200,000, it aims to become a leading modern area for emerging technology industries in China and a benchmark within Fujian Province. It has already established itself as a major hub for high-end manufacturing in Xiamen and a key engine of economic growth.

Currently, the area is experiencing rapid industrial development, with multiple industrial clusters taking shape. Urban functions continue to improve, with the backbone road network largely completed, municipal infrastructure progressing in an orderly manner, and public facilities being steadily enhanced.

II. Industrial Development

As the most important growth pole and industrial core of the Xiamen Torch Development Zone for High Technology Industries (XMTORCH), Tongxiang High-Tech Town has formed two leading industrial chains (i.e., new energy and electronic information) through the implementation and operation of a series of major projects.

In the new energy sector, the area has attracted leading enterprises such as CATL Xiamen, Ampace, CALB, Hithium Energy Storage, and Zhongneng Ruixin. The total planned production capacity exceeds 395 GWh, providing strong support for Xiamen’s efforts to build a competitive new energy industrial cluster.

In the electronic information sector, the area has gathered two core enterprises, i.e., Tianma Display and Tianma Optoelectronics. Among them, Tianma Display operates one of the largest single-site flexible AMOLED factories in China and is expected to help position Xiamen among the world's top three in flexible AMOLED production capacity in the future.

III. Urban Development

In terms of transportation, the Tong'an Area has basically completed a "four horizontal, three vertical" road network, while the Xiang'an Area has formed a "four horizontal, one vertical" network. Several major arterial roads are now open to traffic. Metro Line 6 is under construction. Five enterprise commuter bus routes and two micro-circulation bus routes have been launched, enabling access to major airports and high-speed railway stations within 30 minutes and direct connection to expressways within 10 minutes.

In terms of education, the area plans to build 35 schools, providing approximately 52,000 degrees. Of these, 9 schools are already operational, 8 are under construction, and 18 are in the planning stage.

In terms of comprehensive services, multiple affordable housing and resettlement housing projects are advancing, expected to provide about 11,400 housing units. The Su Song Planetarium has been topped out, and key supporting projects such as commercial plazas and sports centers have broken ground.
