Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport Core Area

I. Overview

1. Basic Information

The core area covers a planned land area of 21.37 square kilometers. It is positioned as a major international airport, a regional hub airport, and a gateway airport for cross-Strait exchanges in China. The area includes the new airport, working zone, cargo zone, maintenance zone, and the Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

2. Terminal Area

This phase includes the construction of a new Terminal 1 (approximately 550,000 square meters), Runway North 1 (4F standard), and Runway South 1 (4E standard). The airport will feature 195 aircraft stands, with the capacity to handle an annual passenger throughput of 45 million, cargo and mail throughput of 750,000 tons, and 380,000 aircraft movements.

3. Transportation

Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport has established a multimodal rail transport system featuring "one conventional metro line, one express metro line, and one intercity railway," namely Metro Line 3 (conventional), Metro Line 4 (express), and Intercity Railway R1 (connecting Quanzhou, Xiamen, and Zhangzhou). Among them: Metro Line 3 connects Xiamen Railway Station to Xiang'an International Airport in 59 minutes; Metro Line 4 connects Xiamen North Station to the airport in 30 minutes; Intercity Railway R1 serves cities in the southwestern Fujian coordinated development zone, providing integrated multi-network services for airport passenger flows.

In terms of road access, the airport has developed a "two expressways and two arterial roads" system: the two expressways are the Airport Expressway and the Quanzhou–Kinmen Expressway; the two arterial roads are Jiuxi Road (connecting Haixiang Avenue to the airport) and the Xiamen-Kinmen Bridge (Xiamen section).

II. Investment Orientation

Driven by passenger and cargo transportation to generate hub traffic flows, and by international cooperation to promote industrial development, the airport core area focuses on three leading industries, including air transportation, aviation science and technology innovation, and airport-oriented business and commerce. A variety of development directions have been planned to meet both near- and long-term demands for aviation passenger and cargo services, aircraft MRO, cultural and tourism experiences, and fashion consumption. The goal is to achieve a transformation from a "city airport" to an "airport city."

In the near term, 14 industrial land plots are available for development within the core area, totaling 93.73 hectares.
