I. Overview
Jimei District is the home to Mr. Tan Kah Kee, hailed as the "Banner of Overseas Chinese and Glory of the Nation." It is also a famous Taiwanese investment zone, a hometown of overseas Chinese, and a scenic area. It is the geometric center of Xiamen and the metropolitan region of Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou and thus a transportation hub in Southwest Fujian. With a permanent population exceeding one million, it ranks first in the city.
II. Industry Overview
Jimei advances its "3+1" pillar industries to foster integrated "five innovation-driven sectors," while strategically developing commercial aerospace, low-altitude economy, and other future industries.
(I) Machinery and Equipment Industry
Jimei District is Xiamen’s machinery manufacturing hub, with key clusters in automobiles and construction machinery alongside competitive sectors such as electric power and electrical equipment.
Hubs: Phase III of the Mechanical Industry Concentrated Zone, Houxi Industrial Cluster, Anren Industrial Park, and Mingsheng High-Tech Industrial Park.
(II) Electronics and Information Industry
The electronic information industry in Jimei District is in a phase of rapid development, having formed an industrial cluster.
Hubs: Phase III of the Mechanical Industry Concentrated Zone, Houxi Industrial Cluster, Anren Industrial Park, and Mingsheng High-Tech Industrial Park.
(III) Software and Information Service
Jimei District hosts a 10-square-kilometer Software Park Phase III, and distinctive industrial clusters have formed in sectors, including big data, artificial intelligence, digital content, mobile internet, and smart city applications.
Three Primary Hubs: Software Park Phase III, Electronic City · Xiamen International Innovation Center, and Maluan Bay Smart Sci-Tech Industrial Park (under construction).
(IV) Commerce and Logistics Industry
Retail Sector: The number of enterprises with retail sales exceeding 100 million yuan increased from 27 in 2021 to 50 in 2025.
Hubs: Xiamen North Railway Station Commercial District, Xinglin Bay Business Operation Center, Jimei New Town Core Business Circle, Tongji Road Commercial Belt, and Maluan Bay Central Business District.
Logistics: It has formed five major clusters, including Qianchang railway multimodal transport, Jimei e-commerce logistics, Wangdun cold storage and cold chain, Xiamen auto logistics, and Deppon intercity distribution.
Hubs: Qianchang Railway Large-Scale Freight Yard, Jimei Logistics Park, and Xiamen North Railway Station Area.
(V) Cultural and Tourism Creativity
It boasts five national 4A-level scenic spots and was awarded Xiamen's first "National All-for-One Tourism Demonstration Zone" in 2020. Xiamen Film & TV Shooting Center has registered nearly 800 film and television enterprises cumulatively.
Hubs: Jimei Film, TV and Culture Creative Park, Xiamen Film & TV Shooting Base, China (Xiamen) Intelligent Audio-Visual Industry Base, Starnest Music Center, Jimei Study Tour Headquarters, and Daming Square.
III. "Five Innovation-Driven Sectors" and Future Industries
Jimei District focuses on five major tech innovation industries (alternative-energy vehicles, new energy and systems, smart manufacturing and robotics, industrial internet, and artificial intelligence), five major lifestyle enhancement industries (cosmetics, audiovisuals, design, health & wellness, and lifestyle enhancement), and the future aerospace industry, accelerating industrial clustering and high-end development.
(I) Alternative-Energy Vehicles
Jimei District has established a complete industry chain covering raw materials, components, complete vehicle manufacturing, inspection and testing, charging and swapping services, and intelligent connected applications.
(II) New Energy and Systems
It has formed an industry chain spanning sub-sectors such as new materials, battery manufacturing, new energy storage, photovoltaic power generation, and smart microgrids.
(III) Smart Manufacturing and Robotics
Jimei District hosts a number of upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial robot industry, such as Sierte, Yangsen, Large Automation, Sucheon, and Karent. In 2023, the industrial robot SME cluster was selected as a national-level SME distinctive industrial cluster.
(IV) Industrial Internet
A cluster of industrial internet platform enterprises has taken shape here, known for strong branding, distinctive features, leading technology, and innovative breakthroughs, covering vertical industrial chains such as stone, auto parts, light industrial design, chemical fibers, rubber products, and construction hoisting machinery.
(V) Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Jimei District has established a full-chain industrial layout encompassing computing power, big data, general-purpose large models, industry-specific large models, innovative applications, etc. In 2023, the Fujina Province (Xiamen) AI Industrial Park was established in Software Park Phase III, and in 2025, the Jimei District AI Industry Cluster was included in the provincial list of core industrial clusters for the digital economy.
(VI) Cosmetics
The industrial service system covers all aspects from product R&D to market promotion. Key cosmetics enterprises such as HeyU Creative, Power Red, and Jiuyecao have gathered here.
(VII) Audiovisuals
Leveraging the Jimeiji Film & TV Industrial Park and Xiamen Film & TV Shooting Center, numerous film crews and enterprises have established a presence here. Performance platforms include the Starnest Music Center, Tan Kah Kee Gymnasium, Tan Kah Kee Theater, and Amoy Sea walls.
(VIII) Design
Renowned design firms such as Red Dot Design, Jianmeng Design, and Fancy are located here, with the Asia Pacific Designers Federation also choosing Jimei District as its base.
(IX) Health & Wellness
Efforts focus on improving the national fitness mechanism, enhancing sports facility construction, hosting sports events, and strengthening a culture of fitness.
(X) Lifestyle Enhancement
It centers on "wedding economy chain, childcare standardization, digital housekeeping, and smart eldercare" to build a full lifecycle service ecosystem integrating "marriage, childcare, housekeeping and senior care."
