The Xiamen-Zhangzhou-Quanzhou metropolitan area is home to nearly 20 million residents and has an economic volume of 2.5 trillion yuan. Recently, the Fujian provincial government issued the "Xiamen-Zhangzhou-Quanzhou Metropolitan Area Development Plan" (referred to as the "Plan"). The Plan aims to significantly enhance the metropolitan area's comprehensive economic strength, establish cross-regional coordination mechanisms, and make substantial progress in integrated construction by 2030. By 2035, the metropolitan area's influence and drive will be further enhanced, setting an example of a modern Chinese urban area. The Plan provides a comprehensive strategy to enhance the metropolitan area's development layout, establish a seamless infrastructure network, develop high-quality industrial chains fueled by innovation, create a convenient and enjoyable living environment, ensure ecological harmony, align with the new development model, and build a globally recognized center for Minnan economic and cultural exchange. Xiamen, in collaboration with Zhangzhou and Quanzhou, will leverage the implementation of the Plan to strive to transform the metropolitan area into a modern urban area with nationwide influence, enhancing the overall competitiveness and impact of the region.
