At the 2024 China (Xiamen) International Cross-Border E-Commerce Expo on June 26, Google officially launched its Cross-Border E-Commerce Acceleration Program and announced the establishment of the first Google Cross-Border E-Commerce Acceleration Center in Xiamen Free Trade Zone.
The Google Cross-Border E-Commerce Acceleration Center aims to address the challenges faced by independent site sellers, such as starting up, talent recruitment, and overseas operations. It will provide support in three main areas: marketing support for independent site merchants, market education empowerment, and ecosystem support for independent sites, helping Xiamen’s cross-border e-commerce sellers expand into global markets through the development of independent sites. The center's establishment in Xiamen seeks to create a one-stop incubation and growth hub for cross-border e-commerce independent sites, positioning itself as the leading industrial base for cross-border e-commerce independent site expansion in China.
In the future, the project will design market activities and content planning tailored to the cross-border e-commerce industry in Xiamen and surrounding areas, offering exclusive online promotion channels and offline specialized guidance. Yuguo will leverage local team and nationwide market resources to plan and implement various activities locally, focusing on recruiting and serving Google independent site customers through the acceleration center.
In recent years, Xiamen has implemented various policies and measures to facilitate cross-border trade, optimize port clearance environments, and continuously promote the robust development of the cross-border e-commerce industry. Leading platforms such as Amazon, Alibaba, and JD.com have established official teams in Xiamen. The city features distinct cross-border e-commerce industrial clusters in areas like Zaishang, Xiangyu, the airport, Haicang, and the software park, attracting and nurturing a number of well-known cross-border e-commerce enterprises. Additionally, Xiamen Free Trade Zone has leveraged its reform and innovation advantages, focusing on the development needs of cross-border e-commerce enterprises by innovating models in areas like self-settlement, cross-border returns, and consolidated exports. These efforts have effectively promoted compliance management for cross-border e-commerce, helping to reduce operational costs, enhance international competitiveness, and deepen the construction of the comprehensive cross-border e-commerce pilot zone, facilitating smoother global trade. Data shows that Xiamen's cross-border e-commerce import and export volume has grown by over 50% year-on-year for three consecutive years, with a 65% increase in 2023 alone.
