Recently, the Xiamen Science and Technology Bureau issued the "Guidelines for Supporting the Construction of Joint Laboratories in Xiamen," aimed at promoting the integrated development of basic research, applied basic research, technological innovation, achievement transformation, and industrialization. According to the guidelines, Xiamen will support enterprises to lead the establishment of joint laboratories with universities, research institutes, provincial innovation laboratories, and medical institutions. These labs will collaboratively conduct applied basic research and tackle key core technologies, focusing on strategic emerging industries and future industries such as third-generation semiconductors, future networks, advanced strategic materials, hydrogen and energy storage, genetics and biotechnology, deep-sea and aerospace development, next-generation artificial intelligence, new displays, and innovative pharmaceuticals and medical devices. The guidelines also encourage leading enterprises in Xiamen to establish joint laboratories with companies, universities, research institutes, and medical institutions in BRICS countries, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and southwest Fujian.
