Fujian allocates special funds to support "Maritime Silk Road" port and shipping development

In the first quarter of this year, Fujian Province has allocated 200 million yuan in special funds for the development of the "Maritime Silk Road" port and shipping sector. The funds aim to subsidize and support the addition of new international container routes, the expansion of "Maritime Silk Road" routes, container-to-container transshipment, and sea-rail intermodal transport. The "Maritime Silk Road" is China's first international comprehensive logistics service brand and platform themed around shipping as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. Since the launch of the first container route named after the "Maritime Silk Road" from Xiamen Port on December 24, 2018, the total number of such named routes has reached 116, with 59 originating from Xiamen Port, covering 86 ports across 28 countries. As of early this month, the "Maritime Silk Road" routes originating from Xiamen Port have surpassed 10,000 voyages, handling a cumulative container throughput of 11.16 million TEUs.
