ABB celebrates 32 years of joint development in Xiamen

On January 9th, Morten Wierod, President, Electrification Business Area Member of the Group Executive Committee of ABB Ltd., flew from the Netherlands to Xiamen, announcing an additional investment of USD 100 million in China over the next three years. Since establishing Xiamen ABB Switchgear Co., Ltd. in the Xiamen Torch High-tech Zone in 1992, ABB's 32-year presence in Xiamen has evolved from "Made in China" to "Created in China," reflecting the growth trajectory of foreign enterprises in the country and mirroring Xiamen's dynamism in open innovation. Currently, ABB Xiamen Industry Hub is one of the largest manufacturing bases for ABB globally. It has achieved over 95% localization of component production, spurring the growth of related industrial chains. In 2023, the total revenue of ABB Xiamen Industry Hub exceeded RMB 10 billion. A key focus in recent years has been intelligent manufacturing, with the world's first and only fully automated switchgear robot assembly line situated at the ABB Xiamen Industry Hub. Looking ahead, ABB plans to launch more projects in Xiamen, contributing to the green transformation of the energy sector and supporting the city's sustainable development.
