Xiamen Special Economic Zone's Regulations on Promoting Marine Economy released

Xiamen Special Economic Zone's Regulation on Promoting Marine Economy was released the other day and will take effect on March 2024. With a view to building Xiamen into an international featured maritime hub, the Regulation will also support the high-quality development of the city's marine economy in terms of legislation. The Regulation outlines requirements for building a marine economy development demonstration zone, optimizing the spatial layout of the marine industry, promoting the synergistic development of sea-related industrial parks, building a modern marine industry system, and creating a modernized bay area. Additionally, the Regulation emphasizes enhancing the internationalization of the port, advancing the construction of an international container hub port on the trunk and an international cruise home port, and facilitating international transit and sea-railway intermodal transport in the Port of Xiamen. The Regulation also sets forth opening a new eastward land-sea corridor relying on the China-Europe-Central Asia Railway Express and the Silk Road maritime transport.
