Xiamen delegation visits Chile, Brazil, and Qatar

From May 6 to 16, the Mayor of Xiamen, Huang Wenhui, led a delegation to visit Chile, Brazil, and Qatar, conducting a series of friendly exchanges and economic and trade cooperation activities. The visit contributed to the further implementation of the "Belt and Road" initiative and the acceleration of the construction of the BRICS Innovation Base, better serving China's characteristic diplomacy. During the visit, the delegation invited Chile's embassy and consulate in China to hold the "Chile Week" event in Xiamen; visited the government of Santiago's metropolitan region to promote further deepening of friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two places; and signed a sister city agreement with Fortaleza, Brazil, making Fortaleza the 22nd international sister city of Xiamen and Xiamen's first international sister city in South America and among the BRICS countries. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in pragmatic cooperation between the two "BRICS Cities." The delegation also actively assisted Xiamen enterprises in exploring overseas markets and carried out economic and trade cooperation exchanges with Chile and Qatar. Relevant agencies, organizations, and enterprises expressed that Xiamen is a gateway city for China's opening up to the outside world, and they look forward to expanding exchanges and cooperation with Xiamen to achieve complementary advantages and mutual benefits and win-win results.
