On December 13, Xiamen announced Fujian's first set of standards for the production of refrigerated prefabricated meals. The new regulations cover prepackaged ready-to-eat and ready-to-heat meals that are refrigerated prior to purchase. The policy covers items such as prepackaged rice, noodle and rice rolls. Xiamen is currently home to at least a dozen companies engaged in the production and processing of refrigerated prefabricated dishes. The industry generated 120 million yuan in revenue last year. The sector is predicted to reach 400 million yuan this year and grow to one billion yuan in revenue next year.
