The China National Center for Biotechnology Development recently released an annual report assessing China's biomedicine industrial parks. The 2021 assessment ranked Xiamen Biobay among China's top 10 in terms of comprehensive competitiveness. Xiamen's biomedicine and health industry recorded operating income topping 111.5 billion yuan last year. The totals topped the 100 billion yuan threshold for the first time. The city's biomedicine and health industry has expanded for more than a decade, with total output growing annually at more 20 percent on average. Xiamen is home to more than 1,200 biomedicine and health companies.
