According to its recent announcement, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) plans to invest in and build the CATL New Energy Battery Industrial Base in Xiamen, with the total investment capped at 13 billion yuan. The construction of this project is expected to last no more than 26 months. With a planned land area of around 1900 hectares, the project includes production lines of power battery systems and energy storage systems. It is not the first investment of CATL in Xiamen. On April 18, CATL announced that Xiamen would be the first home to its EVOGO battery swapping service project. From July to August last year, CATL established multiple subsidiaries in Xiamen. CATL's successive investments are expected to form a new energy battery industry cluster in Xiamen, thus driving the city to become a pivot of China in the new energy industry.
