Xiamen sees GDP up 7.5% in Q1

The first quarter of 2022 recorded a year-on-year increase of 7.5% to 178.698 billion yuan in Xiamen's GDP, with a rate of increase higher than the national and provincial levels by 2.7 and 0.8 percentage points, respectively. In the first quarter, Xiamen held a total of 12 indicators ranked in the top three in the province. The major economic indicators grew steadily. The secondary and tertiary industries contributed significantly to economic growth, with the three-industry GDP structure of 0.3:37.3:62.4. The new economy showed a positive development trend, featuring stable growth in the high-tech industry, which accounted for 43.5% of the added value of industries above the designated scale. The new business formats of the new economy developed vigorously, yielding an increase of 22.3% and 52.6% respectively in the output of new-energy vehicles and service robots, as well as an increase of 30.3% in the information and software service industry above the designated scale. The economic benefits remained high, with operating profits of the service industry above the designated scale up 58.7%. Stable growth remained in income, employment, commodity price and other livelihood indicators. Xiamen's per capita disposable income of residents stood at 20,287 yuan in the first quarter, up 7.2% from the same period last year, and 115,100 new jobs were created in urban areas.
