According to the Statistical Communique of Xiamen for National Economy and Social Development 2021, Xiamen's GDP broke the benchmark of RMB 700 billion for the first time in 2021, up by RMB 64.987 billion over the previous year. The per capital GDP maintained above USD 20,000, outstripping the international standard for primary developed economies. In 2021, Xiamen witnessed significant growth in economic and social development strength, with the total financial revenue exceeding RMB 150 billion. Wherein, the investment in fixed assets (excluding rural households) was increased by 11.3% over the previous year, the investment in the primary industry by 22.2%, the secondary industry by 22.5%, and the tertiary industry by 9.0%; the total retail sales of consumer goods exceeded RMB 250 billion, and the wholesale and retail sales exceeded RMB 3 trillion for the first time; the total import and export amounts both exceeded RMB 400 billion.
