On January 4, Xiamen initiated the centralized construction of 132 major projects throughout the city with a total investment of 115.1 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 19.3 billion yuan. Those projects include 50 industrial projects with a total investment of 26.3 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 5.8 billion yuan; 63 infrastructure projects with a total investment of 76.8 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 11.7 billion yuan; 19 public utility projects with a total investment of 12 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 1.8 billion yuan. The biggest highlight was the new airport of Xiamen. Located in the core airport area on Dadeng Island, this phase of the new airport project will include main terminals of 550,000 square meters, a parking apron with 196 berths, and 2 long-distance runways, etc. The all-round commencement of the new airport project plays a significant and profound role in Xiamen's efforts to deeply implement the cross-island development strategy, build an international modern city of high caliber, and better serve the general development layout of the province and the nation.
