In August this year, the container handling capacity of Xiamen Port reached up to 1.0436 million TEUs according to data, with an YOY increase of 3.91%, exceeding the one-million-TEU mark for the fifth consecutive month. The accumulative port-wide throughput from January to August is 8.0112 million TEUs, marking a record high with an YOY increase of 9.6%. From January to August this year, 1,466 voyages on 55 shipping routes named after "Maritime Silk Road" were completed, carrying 1.6536 million TEUs with an YOY increase of 18.67%. In addition to container business, the cargo throughput at Xiamen Port also saw stable growth. The cargo throughput in the entire port reached 20.3929 million tons this August, up by 8.19% on a YOY basis; the accumulative throughput of January through August reached 151 million tons, up by 14.74% on a YOY basis.
