Xiamen releases important plans for marine economy

The General Office of Xiamen Municipal People's Government recently printed and distributed the Xiamen's Fourteenth Five Year Plan for Developing Marine Economy (hereinafter referred to as the Plan). According to the Plan, by 2025, the total output value of marine activities will have accounted for more than 30% of the GDP; by 2035, that proportion will have reached more than 35%. Xiamen will have been built into an international and marine-featured metropolis, a world-leading port city, a famous coastal and tourist city, an exchange center of marine culture for the "Belt and Road" Initiative, a regional innovation highland for marine technologies, and a globally exemplary city of marine environment harnessing. In terms of spatial layout, focus will be put on a marine-economy-oriented spatial layout featuring "three parks, two belts, two ports and one area".
