Xiamen tops first in foreign trade growth rate among cities under separate state planning

Xiamen's foreign trade of goods rose 35.7% year-on-year in the first five months of this year to 332.35 billion yuan, with a growth rate topping cities under separate state planning and ranking third among sub-provincial cities in China. Xiamen's foreign trade during this period featured a trade pattern of long industrial chain and high value-added products as highlights. The main commodities imported and exported in Xiamen include mechanical and electrical products, labor-intensive products, agricultural products and iron ore, data analysis showed. In terms of imports, Xiamen presented a robust domestic demand, spurring a doubled increase in the trade value of iron ore, textile yarn, barley and dairy products. In terms of exports, new stage highs were seen in the export trade value of electronic components, general machinery and equipment, LCD panels, etc., along with the medical products such as COVID-19 kits becoming the new export growth point of Xiamen. It is worth mentioning that May marked a record high in a single month for Xiamen's import and export, totaling 74.07 billion yuan.
