The Ministry of Commerce, in conjunction with multiple departments, set up 10 demonstration zones for creative promotion of import trade last year, and Huli District of Xiamen was listed among them. To accelerate the construction, Xiamen recently issued the Implementation Plan of Xiamen to Boost the Construction of the Demonstration Zone for Creative Promotion of Import Trade to set short-term and long-term goals for Huli District: Fruits will be yielded by 2021 in cultivating the main body of the supply chain, expanding diversified markets, optimizing the structure of imported products and trade in services, with import of trade in goods scaling to surpass 170 billion yuan, contributing more than 60% to that of the city, and the service trade imports in excess of 11 billion yuan; and by 2025, Huli District will import over 240 billion yuan of goods and over 14.5 billion yuan of trade in services. Furthermore, 18 specific tasks for Huli District were put forward in this Plan.
