The 2020 list of excellent local government efficiency in China was released recently, amid which Xiamen took the fifth place among the top 100 cities. Xiamen has been endeavoring to build a business environment featuring more convenient investment and trade, higher administrative efficiency, better administrative services, a fairer market environment and stronger rule of law system. This city stood among the top of various lists over the past year. In February 2020, Xiamen came second nationwide in terms of "city recovery index" for resumption of work and production. According to China's Urban Business Environment Index Report 2020 released in June 2020, Xiamen finished in second place among the five cities under separate state planning. September 2020 saw Xiamen's enrollment into the top three in the ranking of 36 cities in terms of the effectiveness of city hall services for the first time. In October 2020, Xiamen was rated as a national benchmark city for business environment by the National Development and Reform Commission, with its experience shared to the whole country. The 2020 report card of digital government service capacity was released at the end of December 2020, in which Xiamen was shortlisted as a key city with excellent digital government service capability, harvesting national-level recognition.
