As one of the forums of CIFIT, the 6th Global Electronic Commerce Conference was held in Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center on the morning of September 9. 2020 coincides with the sixth anniversary of the Global Electronic Commerce Conference. The conference this year continuously focuses on the theme of developing the digital economy, and one of its important topics is to strengthen the intellectual property protection and high-quality development of the digital economy, e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce.
The Conference also released the Global Electronic Commerce Report 2019-2020, which discloses that China reached a cumulative value of RMB 34.81 trillion in e-commerce transactions. In terms of online retail, 2019 witnessed a total amount of RMB 34.81 trillion in China's e-commerce transactions, up 6.7% year on year. A rapid growth at the rate of over 40% has been seen in China's volume of online retail transactions in recent years. In terms of cross-border e-commerce, the import and export volume of China's cross-border e-commerce totaled RMB 186.21 billion in 2019 according to the customs statistics, up 38.3% year on year. Among them, the export volume reached RMB 94.4 billion and that of import totaled RMB 91.81 billion, with a year-on-year increase of 68.2% and 16.8% respectively. In 2019, the export volume of cross-border e-commerce surpassed the import volume for the first time.
