The 2020 Silk Road Maritime International Cooperation Forum was officially held in Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center on the afternoon of September 8. With the theme of "Silk Road Maritime: Road to High-quality Development", this forum set up multiple parts such as keynote speech, release of Silk Road Maritime quick route, licensing of new members of Silk Road Shipping Alliance, research results of Silk Road Maritime service standard system and release of Silk Road Maritime Blue Book centering on the vision of "Sharing Prosperity Through Cooperation and Connectivity".
September 7, 2019 witnessed the successful convening of the first Silk Road Maritime International Cooperation Forum in Xiamen, which laid a solid foundation for the further development of the Silk Road Maritime platform. At present, there are 183 members of the Silk Road Shipping Alliance, including the world's top 20 container shipping companies like Hyundai Merchant Marine of South Korea and SITC International Holdings; China's top 10 ports like Shandong Port Group, Tianjin Port (Group) and Xiamen Port Holding Group; the important ports along the Belt and Road route like Gdansk Port in Poland and Hambantota Port in Sri Lanka; high-tech enterprises like shipxy.com, Kinnsoft and Sananbio, as well as many domestic universities and scientific research institutions such as China Waterborne Transport Research Institute, Jimei University, and Belt and Road Initiative Research Institute of Xiamen University.
From January to August 2020, the 62 "Silk Road Maritime" named routes have operated 1,599 voyages, with a container throughput of 1.4234 million TEUs.
