Xiamen is now soliciting urban design schemes for the new airport area from around the world. The solicitation adopts the form of public registration, and the first prize winner will be awarded RMB 6 million. The urban design of the new airport area shall reach the international first-class standards, establish the urban image of the new airport area as an "international gateway, aerotropolis future city", and set the future planning and construction direction for Xiamen new airport area.
