Three world's largest container ships dock at Port of Xiamen in half a month

On March 31, MSC NELA, one of the world's largest container ships, docked at the Songyu Container Terminal in Port of Xiamen. This is the third time in half a month that the terminal has received the world's largest container ships. Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration, together with Xiamen Port Authority and other departments, has customized a guarantee plan for each berthing, so as to realize the quick customs clearance for the giant ships, with efficient service to accelerate the resumption of work and production of the Silk Road Maritime.

Affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, a large number of ship routes have been changed and adjusted. Three 200,000-ton ultra-large container ships including MSC NELA, which were originally scheduled to dock in May this year, have submitted temporary applications, hoping to dock at Xiamen in March. "It is necessary to integrate such factors as waterway, hydrology and meteorology for a giant ship to arrive at the port. We have teamed up with multiple departments and entities to tailor the navigation plan and berthing plan for the giant ship to enter the port, so as to effectively solve the problem of temporary changes in the ship schedule under the influence of the epidemic." introduced by the person in charge of Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration.

According to statistics, three 200,000-ton container ships have completed the loading and unloading of more than 11,000 TEUs in Port of Xiamen. Clothing, digital products, seafood, and daily necessities, etc. will all be shipped to countries along the route to inject strong driving force for the resumption of work and production of the Silk Road Maritime, and people's livelihood materials will be transported for global epidemic prevention. Statistics showed that as of March 31, the operation of the route named Silk Road Maritime in Port of Xiamen has basically returned to the level before the epidemic.
