The second batch of COVID-19 medical supplies that Xiamen donated to international sister cities were assembled at the Sinopharm Xiamen Warehouse on the morning of March 31, which were in an urgent delivery to four international sister cities affected by the epidemic, namely, Nice of France, Trier of Germany, Cebu of the Philippines, and Sunshine Coast of Australia. Among them, Xiamen donated 20,000 N95 medical masks to Nice of France due to its serious epidemic situation and 10,000 N95 medical masks to the other three cities respectively.
The prepared epidemic prevention materials were all affixed with the warm-heart slogans elaborately selected by the municipal foreign affairs office, such as "United we shall overcome", "We stand together in the face of the hardship", "Our friendship, higher than mountains, defies geographical distance", and "A broom is sturdy because its strands are tightly bound, which means people gain strength by standing together". Fully loaded with the wishes of the people of Xiamen, these epidemic prevention supplies travel cross the oceans to assist Xiamen's international friends to tide over the difficulties at an early date.
It is reported that Xiamen donated 10,000 N95 medical masks on March 20 to Mokpo, Kwangyang and Busan in South Korea, where the epidemic occurred earlier. The three cities expressed their gratitude to Xiamen in the form of letters or videos. Xiamen has also assisted the governments of Austria, Monaco and Ukraine in charter flights and the seven freight flights for transporting urgently-needed protective clothing, masks and other epidemic prevention materials from Xiamen. A number of government flights are planned to carry out pick-up tasks in Xiamen in the near future.
