The White Book titled 2019 Xiamen Intellectual Property Development Conditions (hereinafter referred to as the "White Book") was released. Lu Linbing, director of Xiamen Intellectual Property Office, introduced the activity plan of this year's Xiamen intellectual property publicity week and the main contents of the White Book.
The White Book shows that Xiamen registered a growth of over 20% in the quantity of valid invention patents in 2019, with 31.8 invention patents per 10,000 residents and ranking the highest in the province, or 2.4 times the national average.
Xiamen completed the construction of the first phase of Xiamen Intellectual Property Operation Public Service Platform in 2019, providing full-chain and full-process intellectual property services for innovative entities in Xiamen. The platform was officially launched on the 20th.
In 2019, Xiamen handled a total of 34,626 domestic patent applications, up 7.4% year on year, 9,029 of which were patent applications for inventions, up 14.4% year on year; 23,013 new patents were authorized, up 7.6% year on year, 2,672 of which were invention patents, up 20.6% year on year. The number of valid invention patents was 13,646, up 20.6% year on year. 1,958 new international patent applications under PCT were filed, accounting for 47.1% of the provincial total. 10 patents in Xiamen were publicized through the 21st China Patent Award, and 20 excellent patent projects were recommended to participate in the 2019 Fujian Patent Award.
In 2019, Xiamen handled 100,539 new trademark applications and 36,804 trademark registrations. The total number of valid trademark registrations reached 509,756, and the amount of trademarks per 10,000 commercial entities was 7,529. There were 5 new well-known trademarks, totaling 117. A total of 4 geographical indications and trademarks were achieved. The first regional public brand "Xinxusao" has come to the stage of market-oriented operation, and the construction of the public brand "Kulangsu" has been initially launched. The market supervision department assisted 27 qualified enterprises to apply for well-known trademark rewards at the provincial and municipal levels, and the provincial Madrid international registration grants and rewards totaled 5.625 million Yuan.
In 2019, the number of new copyright registrations in Xiamen reached 21,498, a year-on-year growth of 53.9%. The number of copyright registration ranked among the top of Fujian Province, the types of registered works showed a trend of diversification. Animation art works and software works have increased steadily, and the registration of intangible cultural heritage-related works, corporate logos, product patterns and other art design works has increased significantly.
