Recently, the State Council issued a reply on the Work Plan for Accelerating the Comprehensive Pilot Program for the Expansion and Opening-up of Service Sector. According to the Plan, 9 cities including Xiamen became new pilots besides the existing ones. The service sector is an important indicator to measure the competitiveness of a city. And the proportion of service sector to Xiamen's GDP has exceeded 60% now, having become the main driving force of economic growth. Xiamen will take the initiative to connect with international high-standard economic and trade rules, and continuously improve the level of trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, to enhance its international competitiveness of service sector and build a brand of "Xiamen Service" as well. Meanwhile, Xiamen will give full play to the advantages of national open platforms, such as the Free Trade Pilot Zone and the BRICS Innovation Base, to promote digital and green development and release new momentum for the development of service sector, relying on national cultural, digital, traditional Chinese medicine, the Maritime Silk Road Central Legal District and some other characteristic bases.
