Xiamen Port launches new shipping route to Southeast Asia

On the evening of February 24, the "Maersk Narvik" vessel successfully docked at the Haitian Terminal of Xiamen Port, signifying the inaugural voyage of Maersk's Southeast Asia Route HP2. To date, Xiamen Port has initiated 47 routes to Southeast Asia, the highest number among ports located along China's south-eastern coastline, with its network covering nearly all major ports within the region. This route is exclusively operated by Maersk, which operates three 2,300 TEU vessels, with the final destination being Hai Phong Port in Vietnam. It is anticipated that Xiamen Port will receive approximately 500 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) on a weekly basis. In 2025, as economic and trade cooperation between China and Vietnam continues to strengthen, the demand for container shipping of goods like electronics and textiles from Xiamen to Vietnam is anticipated to experience sustained growth. The launch of Maersk's Southeast Asia route HP2 has not only revitalized regional economic cooperation but has also strengthened the status of Xiamen Port as a significant global shipping hub, delivering considerable support for the advancement of the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
