Xiamen launches new direct flight route

On February 14th, the Xiamen-Dili route commenced its inaugural flight, marking China's first direct international air link to Timor-Leste. Operated by Aero Dili, the route will run twice a month during the trial period from February to April and increase to weekly flights starting in May. As the first direct air route between China and Timor-Leste, the Xiamen-Dili flight significantly reduces travel time, facilitates bilateral trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges, and injects new vitality into the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative. Furthermore, the addition of this route strengthens Xiamen's network of direct flights to Southeast Asia, reinforcing its position as a core hub of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. This development supports Xiamen's goal of becoming an international comprehensive transportation hub city and drives the growth of new business models such as aviation combined with cultural tourism and aviation combined with cross-border e-commerce.
