On January 19, the founding conference of the Fujian Marine Science and Technology Innovation Laboratory (Lujiang Innovation Laboratory) and a seminar on the integration of marine science and industrial innovation were held in Xiamen. The event attracted over 600 participants, including more than 20 academicians and representatives from over 160 institutions and enterprises. The unveiling ceremony featured strategic cooperation and project signing agreements. Approved for construction in October 2024, the lab is jointly established by Xiamen University, the Third Institute of Oceanography under the Ministry of Natural Resources, and leading marine technology enterprises and research institutions nationwide. With a comprehensive and grounded planning philosophy, the lab aims to undertake key national strategic tasks, support the establishment of the Laoshan National Laboratory Fujian Research Institute, and align with provincial and municipal modern industrial systems. The lab will focus on breakthroughs and industrialization in core and critical technologies in areas such as marine environmental safety, marine biomedicine, high-end marine equipment, marine seed industry, and blue foods, contributing to Fujian's goal of becoming a marine powerhouse and Xiamen's role as a national marine economy demonstration zone.
