The global think tank GaWC (Globalization and World Cities Research Network) recently released the World Cities 2024, with Xiamen ranking 83rd—its 12th consecutive year of improvement. This year, Xiamen has entered the global top 100 for the first time. The GaWC World Cities is regarded as the most authoritative ranking for global cities in various tiers, primarily assessing a city's position within the global high-end production and service networks. In recent years, Xiamen has accelerated the development of its "4+4+6" modern industrial system, with a growing focus on advanced manufacturing and modern services as key drivers of economic growth. The city has also enhanced its openness by building an international transportation hub, promoting integrated domestic and international trade, expanding supply chains globally, and further integrating into the high-quality Belt and Road Initiative, positioning itself as a critical node in the new development framework.
