中国共产党厦门市第十二届委员会第十二次全体会议于2020年12月25日召开。会议审议通过了《厦门高素质高颜值现代化国际化城市发展战略（2020-2035）》。
Xiamen in East China’s Fujian province announced a strategic development plan at the 12th Plenary Session of the 12th CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee on Dec 25, 2020. The plan is aimed at turning the city into a modern and international metropolis by 2035.

厦门将坚持把创新作为引领发展的第一动力，突出以科技创新为核心的全面创新，夯实创新载体平台，构建一流创新生态，打造更具全球竞争力的人才特区和高素质创新创业之城。
Xiamen will make innovation a major driver of development, pushing forward all aspects of innovation with sci-tech innovation being the core. The city will optimize its facilities and environment to attract more talents and become an innovative and entrepreneurial city with international competitiveness.
— 绿色 | Green —
全面践行“绿水青山就是金山银山”理念，提升生态环境品质，创新发展绿色产业，普及绿色生活方式，深化生态文明体制改革，加快建成国家生态文明示范市。
Xiamen will implement the concept of “clear water and lush mountains are invaluable assets” to improve its natural environment. It will develop environmentally friendly industries, promote environmentally friendly lifestyles, and deepen reform in environmental protection to become a national model in this field.

加强城市历史环境和文化遗产整体性保护，展现城市文化魅力，促进文化旅游会展产业融合，创建国家历史文化名城，打造世界旅游胜地，建设国际会展名城。
Xiamen will strengthen the protection of its historical sites and cultural relics and promote the integration of culture, tourism and exhibition industries, with the aim of becoming a world-class destination for travel and exhibitions.
— 国际化 | Internationalization —
打造新时代全面开放新高地，成为“一带一路”战略支点和西太平洋的重要节点城市，建成国际航运中心、国际贸易中心、国际旅游会展中心、区域创新中心、区域金融中心和金砖国家新工业革命伙伴关系创新基地。
Xiamen will further open up to become a strategic hub along the Belt and Road and in the western Pacific. It will serve as an international center for shipping, trade, tourism and exhibition, regional innovation, and regional financing. The BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution innovation center will also be built in the city.
— 现代化 | Modernization —
勇当改革开放先锋，推进城市治理现代化，全面建设高水平智慧城市、最具安全感城市，着力提高人民生活水平，倾力打造国际一流营商环境。
Xiamen will lead the country in the modernization of city governance. A comprehensive smart city will be built, the sense of security will be enhanced, living standards will be improved, and the business environment will be optimized.
— 协同 | Coordination —
加快跨岛发展实现岛内外一体化，加快推动建设厦漳泉现代化都市圈，重塑闽南“金三角”。推进闽西南协同发展，建成东南沿海重要区域新增长极；积极对接粤港澳和长三角，持续深化拓展东西部协作，服务新发展格局。
Xiamen will accelerate integrated regional development by connecting districts inside and outside the island more closely, paving the way for the construction of a metropolitan area comprising Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou. The city will also promote cooperation between cities in southern and western areas of Fujian province, and strengthen ties with the Yangtze River Delta region and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
