I. Development Foundation
Xiamen’s IC industry covers design, manufacturing, packaging, testing, equipment, materials and applications. The city is China’s largest manufacturing and export base for high-end LED chips and light sources, and its output value totaled 33 billion yuan in 2022. Xiamen has been approved as a National “Corefire” Entrepreneurship and Innovation Base, a National IC Production-Education Integrated Innovation Platform and a Cross-Strait IC Industry Cooperation Pilot Zone. Major industrial platforms in the city include: Xiamen IC Design Public Service Platform, Xiamen (Haicang) Base EDA Platform for the National IC Shenzhen Industrialization Base, and Xiamen IC R&D Design Testing Center. Representative IC enterprises include Leadcore, San’an Integrated Circuits, Silan, Tongfu, Epiworld, PDMCX, Unisoc, SigmaStar, Uxfastic and Chipsun. Representative LED enterprises include San’an Optoelectronics, Changelight, Kaistar, Qiangli Jucai and Gopro.
II. Development Priorities
1. Design, packaging and testing of integrated circuits, and manufacturing of advanced packaging boards
2. Characteristic process manufacturing oriented toward the Internet of Things, intelligent terminals, automotive electronics, intelligent power grids, industrial control, and other fields of application.
3. R&D and manufacturing of 8-inch and larger IGBT, MOSFET and other power devices, MEMS devices, and 3rd-generation compound semiconductors.
4. Etching machines, ion injectors, multi-wire sawing machines, automatic packaging systems, automatic wafer testers, CVD, PVD, CMP, and other critical equipment for semi-conductor manufacturing.
5. Manufacturing of silicon epitaxial wafers, targets, photoresists, high-purity chemical reagents, bonding wires, and plastic sealing materials.
6. R&D and manufacturing of LED lighting, Micro/Mini LED displays and their epitaxial wafers, chips, packaging and other high-end products.
