I. Development Foundation

Xiamen is one of the regions in mainland China where the TFT-LCD industry has grown by leaps and bounds. At present, Xiamen is the nation’s only pilot city for optoelectronic display industrial clusters and the world’s largest R&D and production base of touch screen modules. In 2022, the output value totaled RMB 149.8 billion. In recent years, Xiamen has introduced many major projects such as Tianma’s 8.6-generation new display panel production line, NEG’s 5th-phase electric nitrate glass substrate projects, and AUO’s auto center console panel manufacturing, contributing to the increase of capital and production of AOC, DOS, etc. Meanwhile, Xiamen has initiated new display frontier technology R&D projects such as Tianma New Display Research Institute, TCL Huaxing New Display Research Institute, and Changelight Future Display Research Institute. A comprehensive industrial chain is now in place in Xiamen, covering every field from glass substrates, panels and modules to LCDs and complete machines. Representative enterprises include Tianma companies (Tianma Microelectronics, Tianma Display and Tianma Optoelectronics), Nippon Electric Glass, AUO, Darwin Precisions, AOC, TPK Holdings, TPK Touch Solutions, and Hongxin Electron-Tech.

II.Development Priorities

1. New types of display screens, such as Micro-LED, Mini-LED, LTPS, OLED, laser, flexible display devices and 3D display products.

2. New types of electronic components, such as optoelectronic devices, display driver chips, new types of electromechanical components, high-density printed circuit boards, and flexible circuit boards

3. Core materials and key components for the production of display and touch products, such as glass substrates, filters, polarizers, ITO and alternative new materials, brightening films, diffusion films, and reflective film targets
