Xiamen Customs initiates electronic tax guarantee reform for cross-border e-commerce

The General Administration of Customs has recently initiated a reform to digitalize the tax guarantee process in the cross-border e-commerce retail import sector. Xiamen Customs, along with 14 other customs offices nationwide, has commenced the pilot phase of this new model. Under this initiative, cross-border e-commerce companies can apply to banks for guarantees. Upon receiving the instructions, banks complete the credit approval process, and an electronic guarantee is sent directly to customs for record-keeping. This reform simplifies the guarantee process, reduces time and administrative costs, and introduces more intelligent record-keeping and modification of guarantees, thereby increasing the efficiency of cross-border e-commerce customs clearance.
