The long-term planned area for Xiang’an Southern Area is 98.6 square kilometers, and the launched area at present is about 21 square kilometers (including the Lianhe Area of Sci-tech Town and part of the Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone). It will be built into a comprehensive reform pilot area, a scientific innovation area around Xiamen Bay, a pioneering area of cross-strait integrated development, and a gateway to a key-link city in the new development landscape. This area is building a 4+3 industrial system based on the four pillar industries of the airport-related industry, air transportation, green energy and new materials, life and health, and the new generation of information technology; supplemented by the three modern service industries of the cultural and creative industry, financial services, and scientific and technological services. By focusing on cutting-edge scientific and technological fields such as hydrogen energy and energy storage as well as semiconductors, it strives to build a scientific and technological innovation source in the bay area.
