On May 28, the Xiamen Empirical Energy Storage Technology Research Institute, jointly established by the Xiamen municipal government and CATL, was officially launched. Open to the global energy storage industry, it is positioned as a shared infrastructure for the sector, marking the end of the "non-empirical" era of uncertainty and the official arrival of the "empirical era" for the energy storage industry. The Xiamen Empirical Energy Storage Technology Research Institute is located in the Tongxiang High-Tech New City within the Torch Hi-Tech Zone. With a total investment of approximately 3 billion yuan and covering an area of 150 mu, it is currently the world's largest and most comprehensive one-stop testing and empirical platform for energy storage systems across all scenarios. This will help Xiamen become a hub for energy storage innovation, R&D, and empirical testing. Xiamen is vigorously building itself into a city of innovation for the new energy industry, having formed a complete industrial chain spanning materials, battery cells, system integration, testing certification, and end-use applications. It has also attracted a cluster of multi-billion-yuan industrial projects, with the city's new energy industry output expected to surpass 100 billion yuan by 2025.
