Recently, the newly launched vessel "Sea Devil" safely departed from Xiamen Port's Modern Terminal, embarking on its maiden voyage. This is the first newly built ship exported from Xiamen Port in 2026. The "Sea Devil" is the first vessel in a series of 41,000 DWT (deadweight tonnage) chemical/oil tankers built by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. for Germany's GTS. It has an overall length of 199.9 meters, a deadweight of 41,000 tons, and a service speed of approximately 13 knots. It is reported to be the first vessel equipped with a domestically developed real-time adjustable pitch and rotational speed optimization propeller system. This system enables dynamic pitch optimization, increasing propulsion efficiency by over 10%. It solves the challenge of seamless switching between low-speed icebreaking in ice zones and normal sailing. Furthermore, it fills the domestic gap for MR-type chemical/oil tankers navigation in extremely cold ice zones, earning it the industry designation of a "top-tier" vessel.
